Your pets are our priority and this vision is shared across each of the four Animal House Vets surgeries

Chipping Sodbury is the most northern of our four Bristol based surgeries and looks after pets from Chipping Sodbury, Yate and the surrounding villages.

Ever since he was small boy our owner and Mark Binns has wanted to be a vet. He has a passion for ensuring that your pets receive the best care. This started during his veterinary training at Cambridge University and was further developed from his time in the veterinary pharmaceutical industry where Mark had the opportunity to see the best the country and further afield had to offer. This led him to coming back into practice in 2004 and set up his own Bristol based group of veterinary surgeries.

Chipping Sodbury

Since the surgery was acquired, significant investment has been made in both the buildings and equipment to ensure we can not only keep your pet happy and comfortable, but offer them the latest modern medical, surgical and diagnostic options.

Our clients also benefit from the large on-site car park – for the exclusive use of Animal House Vets clients.

The team here at our Chipping Sodbury & Yate Surgery consists of three experienced veterinary surgeons – Mark Binns, Nora Schwitzer and Tamsin Carnaby. The vets are supported by a strong team of nurses and support staff. Our lead nurse Jess May shares Mark’s enthusiasm and values when it comes to animal care and her experience as a nurse at the Bristol Veterinary School has been invaluable at the surgery to ensure we offer the latest and best care – so be assured your pets are in great hands.

Each of our four surgeries across the Bristol area provide your beloved pets with tailor-made care to ensure that animals leave us not only healthy but also happy.

For more information about our Chipping Sodbury & Yate Surgery or to book an appointment please call us today on 0117 33 55 999 and a member of our friendly team will be happy to help.

Mark graduated from the University of Cambridge in 1989 and like the majority of vets of his generation spent a number of years in traditional mixed practice. After 5 years of general practice – increasingly focusing on pet practice, Mark went into the veterinary pharmaceutical industry initially as a technical manager. One of the highlights of this time was that Mark was responsible for introducing a novel veterinary anaesthetic into the UK in 1994, which today is used by the majority of practices today – including, of course, Animal House Vets. When Mark was the Head of Companion Animal Business for Novartis (one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies) he decided that having visited a large number of practices in the UK – he would like to get “back into practice” which resulted in the formation of Animal House Vets and acquisition of the Chipping Sudbury Surgery along with the Chalks Road site in Bristol. With the practice now significantly bigger, Mark divides his time between all sites – supporting the other vets and ensuring that all sites are functioning smoothly. He is generally doing less clinical work but will always try and make himself available for clients that would like to see him. Life outside work Mark has 3 children, 2 dogs and 3 cats – which keep him more than occupied in his spare time. He also keeps bees at home – you may have noticed his honey available in the practices? Sue Pond

Receptionist and Veterinary Nursing Assistant

Find Out More

Sue has worked at our Chipping Sudbury Surgery for over 20 years – some say she is part of the fixutres and fittings! As a local girl from Downend, Sue has always wanted to work with animals; she has never missed an episode of All Creatures Great and Small or Animal Magic. If she wasn’t doing this job she would either have been an ice-cream seller or work in a chocolate factory…. ideally as a professional taster or sampler! Sue is very active in her local church and has recently started leading the toddler group. She likes going to the theatre (especially musicals) or going out with her friends to the cinema and local pubs. Her passions are anything to do with Jane Austen (especially Mr Darcy!) and saxophones (and even owns one despite not being able to play!). Sue married in July 2014.
